The VIII ordinary meeting of the Territorial Platform for Dialogue in Disaster Risk Reduction Management, central region V, was held in March in Tecpán Guatemala, Chimaltenango. This event is organized by the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED), together with the ICC and other organizations, with the goal of promoting an inclusive and collaborative space that encourages inter-institutional coordination among local and regional stakeholders in the development of effective strategies to build resilience in the region.
The meeting was attended by the governor of Chimaltenango, as well as representatives from the governments of Escuintla and Sacatepéquez. More than 104 participants from various municipal institutions in these areas joined the meeting, aiming to foster the involvement of local and regional actors in resilience strategies for comprehensive disaster risk management.
The event notably included the participation of 25 children and adolescents from San Pedro Yepocapa, who were incorporated as part of an effort to involve youth in territorial development plans. This gathering reinforces the commitment to work together on reducing disaster risk and implementing inclusive strategies.
