On February 10, a field visit was conducted in Escuintla to strengthen the technical and coordination capacities of the organizing team of the Territorial Platform for Integrated Disaster Risk Management (GIRD) of the Central Region V. The visit allowed participants to directly observe major territorial hazards and learn about progress in risk management practices.
The technical tour included locations such as San Miguel Los Lotes, Las Lajas ravine, Las Palmas neighborhood, Cenizas River, and El Socorro village, where discussions focused on sediment transport dynamics from the Fuego volcano and the Pantaleón–Coyolate system.

The activity concluded in Canoguitas, Nueva Concepción, where community representatives shared experiences implementing mitigation works. The activity brought together institutions including SOSEP Chimaltenango, World Vision, SEGEPLAN Escuintla, municipal risk management units, ASOUTZ, and CONRED, with technical and logistical support from ICC.
This experience marked an important milestone as the first field visit led by an organizing team of a Territorial GIRD Platform in Guatemala, promoting a collaborative model for strengthening resilience and disaster risk reduction.
