At least 38 community leaders from Nueva Concepcion visited the basin of the Coyolate River to broaden their knowledge in integrated watershed management. This fieldtrip was the closing point of the Integrated Watershed Management module of the Community Adaptation to Climate Change Training that is developed by the ICC in this community.
The fieldtrip started in the division between the Achiguate and Coyolate basins, in the highlands (La Soledad Village, Chimaltenango), as well as intermediate points in the midlands, the springs in San Pedro Yepocapa, and the joint between the Cristobal and Pantaleon rivers in Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa.
This fieldtrip, organized by the Private Institute for Climate Change Research ICC, La Union Sugar Mill, and Madre Tierra Sugar Mill, allowed community leaders to become familiar with the interaction among the highlands and lowlands of this watershed, soil conservation, energetic and conservation forests, among other topics.
