The Forest Commission of the Achiguate River Basin Technical Roundtable held its first meeting of the year at CENGICAÑA facilities in Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla. The meeting brought together government institutions, private companies, local stakeholders, and forestry sector representatives to strengthen coordination for the protection and recovery of the basin.
The session included the presentation of annual objectives, dialogue among participants, and a workshop aimed at organizing and systematizing forestry activities contributing to the 2026 Achiguate River basin protection and conservation plan. The meeting also shared updates on the Ministry of Environment’s Forest Strategy, results achieved in 2025, forest incentives from INAB, and the Ministry’s Basin Viewer platform, key tools for sustainable territorial management.

This activity was carried out within the framework of the “Building Resilient Landscapes” project, funded by Novo Nordisk through IUFRO, strengthening efforts to promote more sustainable and climate-resilient landscapes in the face of climate change impacts. Through these collaborative spaces, the Forestry Commission reaffirms its commitment to advancing joint actions that contribute to the integrated management and conservation of natural resources in the Achiguate River Basin.
