On June 10, the South Coast Restoration Network held a general meeting at CENGICAÑA to review progress and strengthen coordination among institutions committed to ecosystem restoration.
Participants presented the 2026 work plan, discussed the development of the National Strategy for the Conservation of Waterbirds, shared progress on the South Coast Restoration Plan (CASUR) and restoration actions within Guatemala’s Protected Areas System (SIGAP).
A discussion on forest incentives addressed opportunities and challenges for promoting productive restoration. Representatives from INAB, CONAP, MARN, FUNDAECO, Defensores de la Naturaleza, WCS, municipalities, and private companies participated in the meeting.
